Diagnose

Establish what you actually know

A diagnostic across the syllabus

Cognifiy starts with a diagnostic that moves across your course structure rather than a single topic you picked. It runs in phases — orientation, calibration, probing and confirmation — adjusting difficulty as it goes so the session spends its time where the estimate is still uncertain.

Confidence, not just correctness

You can tell Cognifiy how sure you were about an answer: guessing, unsure, pretty sure or certain. A lucky guess and a secure answer are not the same evidence, and treating them the same is how revision plans go wrong.

Prerequisite checks

When a topic fails, the cause often sits further back. Cognifiy checks whether the real gap is a prerequisite rather than the topic in front of you.

Honest gaps: areas without enough evidence are reported as not assessed yet or limited evidence rather than being filled in with a guess.

Lessons built around the gap

When a weakness comes from not understanding the idea, more questions will not fix it. A Cognifiy lesson is assembled for the specific gap and moves through intuition, the core idea, a worked example, a guided step, the common mistake and a recap.

Depth that matches the gap

A student who is nearly there gets a short recap. A student starting from scratch gets the full build-up. Only once an understanding check passes does the lesson hand you over to practice.

Practice that responds to you

The next question depends on the last one

Cognifiy selects each step from what you have shown: your mastery on the skill, the kind of mistake you last made, and how much support you needed. A run can move between guided questions, independent practice, repair work aimed at a recurring slip, a mastery check, and exam-style questions.

The mistake matters, not just the mark

Two students can get the same question wrong for different reasons. Cognifiy classifies errors — a misconception about a concept behaves differently from a recurring execution slip such as sign handling — so practice targets the underlying problem instead of repeating the topic.

Patterns, not single answers: a mistake has to recur before it changes what you are asked to do.

The model updates, and so does the plan

A mastery model that persists

Every answer contributes to a per-skill estimate labelled as strong, developing or needing attention. Progress does not reset between sessions, and skills you have not touched in a while come back up for review before they decay.

A recommended next step

Cognifiy ranks what would move you furthest right now — weak skills, recurring error patterns, prerequisites behind a struggling topic, and reviews that are due — and explains why each one reached the top. You can still work on anything in the syllabus; the model updates around what you choose.

Progress you can read

Progress means measured change: which skills moved, which weak areas closed, and where the estimate is still thin. No points, streaks or leaderboards.
